FRIGID LINES
Loneliness is like a winter coat woven of ice threads worn in the middle of the north-pole. It can’t comfort you it just affirms the hold of the cold isolation. It is a gridlock of desolation, defined by silence, emptiness and the void of warm arms reaching, embracing. The far away sound of the preacher preaching . . . echoing from the Sunday service past. You smiled a warm beam. They didn’t know your heart was bleeding from a too long family and relationship fast.
Comfort is calling
Your submission is stalling
Tears are falling
The lone shadow casts its long grey streak cry across still white snow. Single footprints writing secret tales that only the lonely heart know; leading to a home less than abode. . . tis abroad, a broad gulf of separation. Dwelling in the land of a strange nation. A language you know not. History only fades because you forgot.
Comfort is calling
Your submission is stalling
Fearfulness is dawning
As the day draws to a close. Night draws close,
where the pain of aloneness echoes loud
Shaking the seat of the mighty, the arrogant and the proud
Deep wells of tears can no longer be shroud, for the silence is too loud.
Hearts pain. Composures try to regain their cool.
To resist God is to sit in the seat of a fool.
A broken and contrite heart he will not despise
Open your heart close your eyes
Faith is not about what you see
Its about what you believe
Its about the truth you receive
Its about the actions to achieve
Open your heart and close your eyes.
Listen . . .
Yes- I hear detour trains brakes screeching
My predetermined destination I am reaching
I hear mental bands release
I hear years of turmoil exhale-peace
Yes lord, I feel eternity and time aligning
As hearts surrender- no more back sliding
Tick tock tock
I may be late, but I’m right on time.
For all that I missed
is wrapped up in this
moment of recompense.
Latter and former all rolled into one.
What a day of fulfillment that my enemies abhor.
As they sit by the table watching to see
my destruction they hoped for
turned into sweet victory.
Oil rolls lavishly down my face,
my lemonade now sweetened and cooled flows over the rim.
They look at me, they grimace;
I look them in the eye and grin.
Because though I’m late I was always coming in God’s time.
According to them I stepped out of line too many times
and too long. But they were wrong.
God always had a plan, but they never knew.
For no eye ever saw
no ear ever perceived
all that God had in store for me.
Many of us made it over through some pain waved hard ships.
We sailed along because of the romantic songs dressed in coats of love boats but they were truly hard ships. Thank God for them though, for we would have stayed up so called preyed up and astray trapped on Gilligan’s island. Singing foolishly . . . I land, my lone stand, I sank in this sand.
I am cast away on this coast on which I boast.
Then came a ship of sorrows, a shop of horrors. I bought all it sold. It broke me. It took my heart as it stroked me into the middles of violent oceans. I had no choice but to swim or drown. I couldn’t swim, so, I drowned.
Jonas whale took me underground
and through seven seas.
Now I see why I had to die to myself and why I had to cry by myself. It was destiny calling. I wouldn’t answer. I was running. My heart was too hard. So a hardship had to come and take me where breakers dash,
my hard heart crashed
as I ran into-God swill.
Now humble, contrite and still.
I’m just where I’m supposed to be;
In Nineveh, maybe.
I have a word to share, a story to tell.
I have a pool of lost souls to turn away from hell
so many to deliver from demon spells.
I am where I am supposed to be.
It could have been easy,
but first, my fleshly will had to die.
All of my who’s what’s when’s and why’s
had to muster together and bow into one resounding YES.
I am at that place of NOT MY WILL . . .
I am at the crossroad of THY WILL BE DONE.
I am done
Lord you begin
Thy kingdom come . . . yes even so come Lord Jesus, come.
Above all else
Above our selves
We lift up our hands
Taking glory due to you off stagnant shelves
Beyond our need
We submit our will and we kneel
To your worthship
You are worthy of our stewardship
Our life energy and synergy of liturgy
Lips devoted to forming words of mastery
In futile effort to define your glory your is-ness
Your completeness, your immeasurable supreme greatness
Yet even then we have ne’er begun to scratch the tip of the surface
You are so deep, with wisdom so steep, who can attain to know your face
We hide we cover for in your illumination all truth is exposed to our disgrace
Oh but for your grace we can dare stand and raise our hands in full surrender
To God of the universe our one and only savior and defender
Your presence reveals the truth from the lie, exposing every pretender
For we must worship you in truth and the spirit, even with the sweetest tunes and tightest lyrics
If we are in deception you won’t hear it
You want us to keep it real
Don’t come to you if we want to lie and steal
You want us to come correct
Not pumped up in the pride of our own intellect
You want us to take off the cover
Not hiding the shame of a forbidden lover.
You want us to repent in our hearts
Not giving you just a portion while keeping back a secret part
You are worthy of our devotion
Not mix matching your presence with dark potions
Seeking you yet seeking forbidden mysteries of deep oceans
For you are more than enough
The devil and his minions are not that tough
At the name of Jesus they cower, shrivel, insignificant scruff
So we exalt you above all else for you are already there
Our words of acknowledgment only take us there
To heavenly places in Christ Jesus our lord
When we lift you up we don’t take you high
Saying so opens our eyes
Let the redeemed of the lord say so
For you are lord without our words
You are a king without our song
But when we lift you up we become one
With the son
For then we recognize our own demise
We see ourselves as you see us before your eyes
We abandon falsehood darkness and every disguise
For thus we make you Lord of our lives
The highest praise of our lips can give
Is hallelujah! hallelujah! To the he only god that lives
But an even greater praise that pleases beyond the mouth
Is a life that walks in faith and not in doubt
That is the worship that you seek
From a heart humble and meek
In spirit
Not just in lyric
In truth
Remembering the creator from our youth
You are looking you are searching
For one who believes
On who’s behalf you can show
