Scorched honey hardened into shards of glass
You hope when it tears you apart it won't hurt near as bad
But the stinging in your veins isn't sweet like molasses
And you hold your breath tight as the pain passes
Can't you see, it'll never be the same again
Cause now you're layered full of ash and scars
You're not exactly sure where it is you fell apart
And you're hoping the sugar will mend what the salt ate alive
But you realize there's no changing when you're trying to survive
Can't you feel these dreams hammering at your head
And you rushed for candied apples but they were covered in blood
The pain comes rushing in to damage like the floods
You'll never see my eyes turn the color they did that day
And you'll never understand why I feel someone should pay
