Shell

I don't want to be a broken shell on the beach.

Caught in the midst of the waves on the shore.

Please don't discard me for the pieces I'm missing.

Hold me for a while and see what I could be.

Inside are secret colors that reflect in the sun.

Outside are shades that glitter in the moon.

And although I've got defects, it doesn't mean I can't be beautiful.

It means there's not another like me anywhere.

So take me home and string me on a necklace.

Place me in your pocket for good luck.

Let me be a charm placed among your treasures.

But please don't drown me back into the dark blue. You'll never know unless you give me a chance.
