The sea

I stand alone

Beneath a great, dark sky,

Soft sand covers my toes

And waves caress my feet.

A breeze blows through my hair

And gently calls my name

As oceans meet the rocky shore

Then slowly leave once more...

Unsteady footsteps taken

I've closed my eyes and listen

As forth she bekons me to follow

Into her tender, cold embrace...

In front of such majestic forces

I know that I should fear death,

I know great power when I see it,

Indeed, by now, I should have left.

But beneath a starless sky she waits

And calls her child home

My mother stands upon the sand

And calls her child home...

I look back at the sea again

Shake my head and walk away

Yet as I walk into my mother's arms

I hear the wind calling my name...

If I could find the words, I'd write a thousand sonnets for you, Oh sweet Muse!
