The Rose

“The Rose”

The Rose brings us color to our lives,

soft and warm in droves of five.

Remind us of Summer’s breeze, picnics by a big green sea.

The time we spent, out in the cold!

Big rooms filled with young and old.

One Rose fresh from heart,

center table around the cards.

The Rose I give you from the street,

Bleeding fingers and pounding feet.

The Rose I mention stands alone,

that one there by the phone!
