Showing itself as Trickster or the fulfilling

   of my wish for canine contact

This dog-person, having mourned the last

   of a long line of come & gone dogs,

      has been feeding stray cats ever since

It would be a fond remembrance to stroke

   the coarse tawny fur between

      its peaked ears
