LONGING

More deeply than the anatomy of my soul,
Your Scent lingers; drifting up, and along the walls of my mind.

Tear-laden cheeks, born from the longing...
and yet living, without your touch;
creates deadly havoc at my inner depths

.

Thoughts of passion move me
more profoundly than imaginable
have absorbed my dreams and,
distorted my reality.

Your imprint
Your innocent touch
Your scent,...
Your fond tone, I drink through osmosis to merge our spirits,
and keep you forever a part of me.

Your name...
Sweet as Nectar, is all that I shall ever taste,
As it passes delicately from quivering lip,
I love you.

Our longings and yearnings define our humanity. The moment we come to this awareness then, we are truely free in soul to be called human. Therein lies our humaneness. That longing in us drives us hopefully through this trying journey called life. What Valerie has courageously done in "LONGING" is to sail humanity into those realms of life where we face the truth of our needful passion and yearnings of being made whole. Valerie echoes: "More deeply than the anatomy of my soul, Your scent lingers; drifting up, and along the walls of my mind..." Now, these are powerfully moving lines of passionate dimensions. These lines are ladden with personificatory and metaphoric figures of speech that powers the deeply rooted message found in Valerie's use of the simile, subtly, but effectively. This kind of poem evokes some creatively charged emotions and wild, passionate realities of our common humanity. Just read this stanza: "Thoughts of passion move me more profoundly than imaginable, have absorbed my dreams and distorted my reality" Dare I or humanity even begin to imagine where the disarming power of this stanza can lead us; perhaps to the healing land of our yearnings! With that evocative style of the figurative simile, so effective and deeply moving again, Valerie finally ties up this stupendous and magically passionate poem, approriately titled: "LONGING". Hear her: "Your name... Sweet as Nectar, is all that I shall ever taste, As it passes delicately from my lips, with secretly whispered, "I love yous."' The passionately real and refrehingly freeing spirit of this poem deeply define our longing souls - the truth of our yearning humanity! Thank you so much, Valerie, for letting us share in this entraning "LONGING"! Ugonna
