When I danced and sang for my moms life!

My own kids delight in hearing my stories from my childhood. I grew up in an old, huge wooden house that sits beside the sea.We were huge as a family, and since my parents were busy making a living, I was mostly with my sisters or friends.I mostly have funny remembrance of my youth, one when I painted my moms knees with happy faces, one when I had to sing and dance, just so our band can win the contest, and the prize was 100 Pesos.(oh, by the way, we won)and treated ourselves with dirty ice cream.I remember the song very well, Oh, Diana.

But this one I will never forget.I followed my mom to the beauty parlor, I must have been 7 or 8. Inside the parlor are busts of cut off heads, use to display the wigs that they sell. And since it was my first time to see it,they told me that they were to cut off my moms head if I did not sing and dance at the same time. They were always amused to see me dance and sing,I had a chubby face, with curly hair and they were kinda blond.I was even called baby doll during those times.

Anyway, I took their threat seriously, and with tears heavily rolling down my eyes, I danced and sang and wiggled my hips cuz I firmly believe that they were going to cut off my moms head. They were clapping their hands and humming a tune and laughing so hard, I could not understand why. These crazy old women were about to kill my mom and I had to deliver the best dance and song in my life and they were cheering.

They probably got scared at how I looked like cuz they made peace with me and told me that it was all a joke!Gave me some ice cream and cake cuz I would not stop crying.Well, ice cream was indeed my favorite, and with the cake with it, I was good!!!

Looking back at it now, I wonder where those crazy old women are, but mostly, they must be all in heaven too, with my mom. I often wonder if they are all still together, cutting my moms beautiful hair and remembering my song and dance complete with the tears rolling down my cheeks.
