Sibu to Bintulu by Bus

Sibu is a small friendly town located in the state of Sarawak in East Malaysia. It is an inland town, which is strategically located at the convergence of two major rivers, which are the Rajang River and Lgang River. It is about 183 kms from Kuching. There are quite a few major attractions in this city that brought me here in the first place. Being a remote city, I had not expected many tourists but to my surprise, there were tourists from all over the world flocking to this beautiful place. One of the attractions that I found to be quite memorable was the Lbanlong house, which is necessary visit the moment you enter Sibu. This attraction lets you have a one of a kind experience and understanding about the lifestyle, customs and culture of the people of Malaysia.

The best way to get around Sibu is by an intercity bus to explore the several major attractions. My journey to Sibu ended after visiting the huge indoor markets, which was a shopaholic’s heaven. The next destination on my list was Bintulu that is also located in Sarawak in East Malaysia. I headed to this website called redbus to book my bus tickets and the process was quite easy and hassle free. One of the things that I liked the most was that I could book the tickets on the smart phone in the absence of my laptop. Sibu is about 205 kms away from Miri and 250 kms away from Sibu. Bintulu is considered one of the best places if you are looking out to chill out and relax when in Malaysia. There are quite a few beaches in and around Bintulu making it one of the best places to indulge in water sports and some beach games.

There are about 3 operators plying on the route between these two cities which are Bus Asia Biaramas, Bintang Jaya Express and Sungei Merah. Bus Asia Biaramas had seater coaches, Bintang Jaya Express had executive coaches and Sungei Merah had standard coaches. Bus Asia Biaramas had about 5 buses plying throughout the entire day which was the highest among all the other Operators. The first bus departs at about 12:30 am followed by 2:30 am. 6:00 am, 4:00 pm and 6:00 pm. The cost of the ticket was fixed at SGD25 for all 5 buses. One thing that I noticed was that Bus Asia Biaramas seats were all booked so if you are planning to travel with this operator I would recommend you to book your tickets about a week in advance. The duration of the journey was about 4 hours as the Operator offered a 30-minute short break to its passengers. Bintang Jaya Express was the only executive express bus plying on the route between these two cities. The cost of the tickets were about SGD20 and there were about 41 seats in a single bus.
