They say, a broken heart takes time to mend,
Enough time to repair its broken strings,
That were broken, snapped into,
By a love it thought was true.
But as we live each day,
It reminds us of the pain it endured,
From a person it soon adored.
And thought, that out of anything in the world, they were worth fighting for.
They say, it gets easier as we go, we wont care as much,
Living as we used to before, doing more and such.
Our hearts learn to numb the hurt,
Like a bug bite it is barely there.
The ache will always remain as we think back each day,
Before cold hearts learned of how to stray,
And we soon said, "He/she was the one that got away."
But then its the reality that we can never go back to speak of the things we meant to say.
They say, we all make mistakes and though some can't be fixed,
Maybe it was by fate that we become truly happy on a later date,
When our hearts feel full once again and our life becomes what it was meant to be.
And it will be forever 'You and me.'
They say, not to look back on the bad memories but reminisce on the good,
To remember that we wont be sad forever,
And there's no such thing as never,
But happiness as we share laughter,
And continue to believe in forever after.
