Longevity

A Day too Long

I’ve been here at this job

Every time I try to advance

I get thwarted – been thwarted

So many times – starting to

Doubt myself – thwart myself

Abuse myself with look-away-minders

Look-away-minders cause one to

Look away from all that is positive

Mining everyone else’s business

Except your own – thus, in all this

Gloom, standing for nothing

Falling for something – the fight

Goes on, onto standing for something

Falling for nothing

Look-away-minders up and about

Look-away-minders causing drought

Drought of the will, the mind, the spirit

But I’m not having it

I refuse to annihilate self by complaining

I shall it through – this negative Ion Storm

I shall overcome, staying true to form

Though in the end – my will be strong

It is still

A Day too Long

"Look-away-minders" - don't you hate them? Wouldn't it be nice if we could always focus on the positive - always focus on what's important - always move forward.

Your poem reminds us to do that. One of my favorites. No changes needed. You're a gifted man.
