Ugonna Wachuku
I:
Then, one morning, when
the sun shone brilliantly
on earth's fields, you
went to the stream.
You had always desired to
see those young dolphins.
They were there. With joy,
they welcomed you to their
stiring stream.
II:
On the way to this stream,
you had stopped at the
enchanted earth's garden
to hear birds sing you a
song:
You made their day full
of green trees. Like
whistling winds on wings,
we welcomed your path to
the stream.
III:
Early morning dews embraced
us on your jewel's journey
tread moulded in the likeness
of firmament footprints.
We followed; believing the
bountiful beauty of your
heaven harness.
IV:
When you finally got to
the stream, we were back
at the earth's garden to
wait for your loving
passerine password.
We waited because the
stream had always called
you to her for love, for
peace, for creative
inspiration and
wholeness
of
the
human
spirit
