"In Here"
Time is your enemy and your friend
It's the open road and a dead end
Precious are the moments of few
Seconds trapped in tear-drop dew
Comradship shared by many foes
Being careful not to step on any toes
Craving the smell of burning cigarettes
What one gets depends on what the other bets
There's no telling if anybody knows
If the elephant charges or the blackbird crows
Isolated silence is a blessing in disguise
No window to see if the sun is on the rise
Chaotic order in orange cadence
Paying off a debt in long-term payments
Tomorrow brings another etch in the stone
Time ticks slowly when you sit all alone
Voices pierce your ear like a nail in the bone
Hiding a truth that no one would condone
Words make no impression
Faces hold no expression
Their eyes are burning holes but look ice cold
Their lives are playing roles and doing as they're told
Nobody would accept an explanation
The honest causes of this defamation
There's no escaping the law that is written
There is no antidote once you've been bitten
It doesn't help to overthink
There are enough things to help you sink
The mind can make it all much worse
Every verse can seem like a curse
This is where the sowards punish the weak
The place where bullies play hide-and-seek
Settling for less because they failed a test
A squadron of robots who act like they're possessed
Biting my tongue until it's time to get away
Sometimes the only thing you can do is pray
