To my Father
Life has its good times,
Also it has bad times.
My sadness comes from you,
A few things that help me forget you are these rhymes.
I’ve seen more than any person should at this point in life,
Like a silhouette I was told what to do,
Not by you but by your mistakes.
I don’t want to live like you, Christ sakes.
You were there when I was small,
Now you’re not even there when I fall.
If you see me it will be because you want to,
I’ve made it through some of my hardest times,
No thanks to you.
When I have kids, I wont restrain them, I wont.
I’ll be there behind their dreams.
Then they’ll grow to be good men and good fathers.
Not like you.
I learned from your mistakes,
Like a silhouette, this I can take.
