Sometimes it's not a struggle to
live in the moment
Sitting still in the car as the
Green fields, houses, trees whiz by
I realize it doesn't matter where I was
And it's not just about where I'm going
For even (in between), I'm still somewhere
Those little, seemingly insignificant moments
(in between)
Can be transformed into destinations in themselves
When I'm standing outside,
waiting for my passenger
I look all around me.
When I see the tree,
I take note of the shade of green
In comparison to the others
I notice how some of the delicate leaves
have been gnawed by what we call pests
But we're all interconnected,
just trying to survive
Once in the car, my eyes are met with
a glare from the sun
Rather than resenting the powerful orb,
I am reminded of my respect for it
In amazement, I stare at the picturesque
pink, orange clouds highlighted by the sun
Put it in Drive and embark on
what can be an adventure
As I continue on this trip I see more and more
While it is good to have a goal,
a destination,
Don't let it stop there.
Don't forget what is often overlooked
(how?)
Roll down the windows and inhale
the fresh air
Take in those neon clouds, floating above
And those wise trees, standing still
as an example to us.
Those clouds wander on, attached to nothing
The trees stand patient and still,
Accepting whatever comes their way.
