LAST NIGHT I WANDERED THROUGH YOUR DREAM
(T. Beechey)
Last night I wandered through your dream just to get a separate view
To see if maybe your life's theme was anything like I knew
I understood the risk involved but it was one I chose to take
This mystery needed solved and so this journey I did make
Last night I wandered through your dream just to get a different feel
On everything I'd always deemed as somehow being true and real
Maybe all I'd known was false, I'd never had these doubts before
Was this just a rash impulse or could it be something more?
Last night I wandered through your dream just to have another chance
To once again find that gleam that left without a second glance
I started down a well-worn path where many others once had gone
Unaware it was the aftermath of journeys time had overdrawn
Last night I wandered through your dream just to see if I belong
Or if it all was just a scheme whose destiny was all wrong
The path transformed into a road which went for miles in opposite ways
But not a single signpost showed in which direction I should gaze
Last night I wandered through your dream, I'd grown weary of my own
So I cast my sights upon your beam and where your path was clearly shone
First I went left then I went right, then went around in circles some
Fell to a depth, went to a height and came back where I started from
Last night I wandered through your dream, mine no longer satisfied
What once had glowed lost its steam and left me feeling void inside
Now I went right then ventured left, going up and down and in between
The wind picked up and I was swept back through everything I'd seen
Last night I wandered through your dream not knowing what I hoped to find
Just seeking silence to the scream that echoed all throughout my mind
The highs and lows, spinning around, down the road and path and then
I felt lost but I knew I'd found myself inside my dream again
Last night I wandered through your dream
And, looking back, now I've learned
All is not the way it seems
Once all the corners have been turned
Love your dream poem.
Dreams tend to be that
way. Enjoyed.
