PHOTOGRAPHS
(T. Beechey)
Just a handful of photographs, scrawls and scribblings on a page
Distant echoings of laughs --- held in time, frozen in age
The days become a faded blur; nothing changed, all the same
Every thought comes back to her, the breezes softly call her name
So many words that were misspoken
Too many words left unsaid
Hopes and dreams lie shattered, broken
All are memories instead
Memories of all that was
What could have and what should have been
Questions where no answer does
Solve the mysteries deep within
Friends and smiles, captured in print of happier times shared by all
No clues given, not even a hint as winter overtakes the fall
Snowflakes lightly dot the ground, the leafless branches stretch and yawn
But it's different now, she's not around...the beauty that was is forever gone
So many words that were misspoken
Too many words left unsaid
Hopes and dreams lie shattered, broken
All are memories instead
Memories of all that was
What could have and what should have been
Questions where no answer does
Solve the mysteries deep within
Shadows of her still remain, scents still linger in the air
Each poem and lyric speaks her refrain --- she's gone, but she is everywhere
Even as the years progress she's only just a tear away
But those days of happiness in photographs shall always stay
So many words that were misspoken
Too many words left unsaid
Hopes and dreams lie shattered, broken
All are memories instead
Memories of all that was
What could have and what should have been
Questions where no answer does
Solve the mysteries deep within
Just a handful of photographs
Scrawls and scribblings on a page...
