GATHER ROUND
(T. Beechey)
Gather round and I'll relate a tale that you'll never see put up for sale
Because it's all completely free except for the price of your sanity
It's about a man I never knew --- where was he from? I have no clue
I never heard his name or age and his life,to me,was an unwritten page
He was born sometime, can't say when, and his parents, whoever they'd been
Loved him deeply with all their hearts unless he was an orphan from the start
Gather round and I'll relate a tale about a man who succeeded to fail
Until one day he failed to succeed...or was it at night? Was it indeed?
Now this man would travel here and there though, once in a while,on a dare
He'd often travel there and here, never too distant but not quite near
He lived either alone or with another, finding only what he discovered
And he kept on living till he died or maybe he's still standing outside
Gather round and I'll relate a tale where the only road is a broken trail
Where exits seem to always come right at where you're starting from
So,that's the man I never knew,he goes through life like we all do
Casting reflections off the sky in replicas of both you and I
