THERE'S TIMES I WONDER
(T. Beechey)
There's times I wonder why I'm here, it doesn't appear a reason exists
Have I missed something along the way? Why do I stay when dreams resist?
There's times I wonder why I'm here, it's never clear the reason why
And I sometimes think there isn't one and all I've done is just a lie
There's times I wonder why I'm here, year after year I remain
Only a stain upon a windshield that never yields to the falling rain
Nobody knows so I stay unchosen, nobody sees a reason at all
Nobody cares where I'm headed, I'd like to forget but I'm set to fall
There's times I wonder why I'm here, I'm nowhere near where I belong
And the road gets longer by the minute, so infinite and so very wrong
There's times I wonder why I'm here --- to endure the smears of all mankind
Who find amusement in my sorrow and borrow the hopes I left behind?
There's times I wonder why I'm here, all I've held dear has slipped away
The words I say go unnoticed, I'm no longer devoted to stay
Nobody knows so I'm frozen, nobody sees a reason I am
Nobody cares where I'm going and all I know is all a sham
There's times I wonder why I'm here, do you see this tear within my eye?
It doesn't dry, it only burns and turns to a river by and by
There's times I wonder why I'm here, sometimes I fear I'll never know
And I'll go beyond the light, no reason in sight and nothing to show
There's times I wonder why I'm here
Won't someone hear the words I speak?
I only seek a reason to be
A reason for me...maybe next week
