SOMETIMES I IMAGINE
(T. Beechey)
Sometimes I imagine I can fly, just spread my arms and head for the sky
Soar above clouds, somersault over trees --- while being carried on the breeze
Sometimes I imagine I'm not here,I just close my eyes and I disappear
And I am nowhere that I can be found because I am nowhere around
I imagine all sorts of silly things
But,time and again,what always brings
Me back to what I try to conceal
Is that none of it can ever be real
Sometimes I imagine I'm big and strong, fighting back fear and righting each wrong
Setting a path for others to take by turning back trouble in my wake
Sometimes I imagine I'm fierce and brave and all those shackled by pain as a slave
I will turn loose and allow them to live in a world only Jesus can give
I imagine all sorts of wacky things
But,time and again,what always brings
Me back to what fate will not steal
Is that none of it can ever be real
Sometimes I imagine I'm meant to be and others find a reason for me
I'm not just a burden,I'm not just a yoke or the punchline to a bad joke
Sometimes I imagine I'm someone to love, someone that someone thinks highly of
And shares precious moments forever after in the midst of smiles and laughter
I imagine all sorts of crazy things
But,time and again,what always brings
Me back to the way that I always feel
Is that none of it can ever be real
