WALLS OF TRUST
(T. Beechey)
I've spent a sleepless night or two wondering about what people do
Many nights I've tossed and turned and all that I've really learned
Besides losing hours of sleep is some people cannot keep
A bond of trust cause eventually the real person's all you see
A careless word sometimes is spoken, causing silences to be broken
And what was once a solid wall ceases to exist at all
Perhaps they arose without thought, but any reason matters not
What's done is done, the trust is cursed, unrepaired and unreversed
And there's no mason or architect who could redesign or resurrect
What once was as it was before, there's always a stone less or more
Never again to be the same,it's pointless to point fingers of blame
What matters is the wall is just a remnant of a broken trust
It only takes a single word uttered enough to be heard
To transform the walls of trust into piles of rubble and dust
Even a gesture made in spite,so discreet and very slight
Will bring about the crumbled fall of trust,as if it was a wall
For the wound runs deep to the heart, severing lifelong ties apart
With no chance to ever return to what, inside, both do yearn
But an obstacle always remains between themselves and future gains
And the wall,it signifies lost intentions and hurtful lies
It's hard to explain or define what causes one to cross that line
After keeping up such a front of one who'd neither wish nor want
To allow such a breach to grow, nobody will ever know
What makes one inflict such ache so it become too painful to take
Another chance, one more try to heal and again rectify
What stood solid and strong cause no one admits when they're wrong
So the wall remains a shell,a mere outline existing to tell
Of shattered dreams that occurred all because of a single word
