WHOSE FOOL
ABBA CDCD EFEF AA (extended)
I AM a fool, & passionate :
a fool to feel it, & more fool to tell it.
To be yours & young, & Oh, I loved it !!
I AM a fool, & passionate !!
I once saw that Lovely thing,
but see it through a curtain, now.
Glimmering, shimmering, like Spring,
but seen so very dim & low.
Imagination’s consequence
is that I must bear the burden
of the dog-fight of Ignorance,
the agony of my poem left unwritten.
I WAS a fool, but passionate ! ! !
Better to be unwritten
or to be unread?
Better to be alive
or to be dead ?
What a passionate, lovely fool you are!
