I remember the day well,
Yet a few years past,
Of the cat they called Bubba
And a wound that would last!
Twelve years of age and careless,
But soon was brought to an end.
While waiting for the bus Bubba came to me,
And left my heart with a scar never to mend.
Black and white, a handsome cat he was,
But behind those green eyes lurked something
So mean and I didn’t see.
He stalked about the yard as if he were king!!
Rolling at my feet seemed to be an innocent gesture;
I reached down to pet his warm stomach,
But he sank his sharp teeth into my skin
And OH what heartache!!!
A numbing pain shot through my arm
And I pulled my hand away.
That evil cat named Bubba fled,
And I began to stumble and sway.
My mind became dizzy,
And the red blood poured down all over the ground.
My arm hung limply at my side
As I wandered home making a pathetic sound.
I went inside and grabbed the telephone
Meaning to call mom or dad,
But mom was just too busy
And my dad was just mad!!!
I went to the bathroom to wash my hand;
The blood flowed down the drain.
I wrapped it tight in bandages,
But it didn’t take away the pain.
I began to think of how I could
Bring that evil cat to its end,
But after that day Bubba disappeared
And I never saw him again!!!
