Strange how I'm judged on the color of my skin
Character is color blind and that lies within
Status can neither make or break me
Title is just a word
Mistaken identity based upon what you've heard
Accepted by this group
Rejected by others
But no one knows the real me
The me behind the "color"
Even stranger still is the response based on the sound of my voice
"She doesn't sound like she's black"
Wow, made the wrong choice
I'm sure this is not how we were intended to be
With you being you and me being me
