the intense cry
of nextdoor child
chills my heart
makes me wonder how
a mother's heart has turned so cold
this light that dashes
across the sky, how fated
we are since the first day
it made this trip across space
i bow to the buddha once more
no more fights between
the fighting fish - a paper
separates each glass jar
london restaurant
we brave each other to
use our hands to eat
the light -
a rat dashes
across the room
dusk - a trail
of smoke
joins the cloud
miser's death
forgotten notes
in the bamboo pole
gray day --
your blue eyes
swim in grey lakes
from my fifth-floor I see
this old man crosses the street
its pet dog trailing him;
the dusk holds the
colourful scene up to me
as the flame rages
through your letters
how cold and insensitive
it does its job in wiping out
these last remnants of our love
unschooled parents
proud that child speaks english
- broken english
