I finished my first year of highschool,
struggling just a little,
learning my way around the school,
and getting to know who to
listen to, and who to run away from.

Well, now I'm in my second year,
I'm a softmore now,
and new challenges greet me.

I know my way around the school,
mostly, that is,
and I know whare to eat,
and what places are safe.

The school is a big place,
with rules we have to follow,
but they are easier to live with now,
in my second year of highschool.

I am braver this time around,
and keep my head up in the halls,
not looking down at my feet,
to make sure that no one
would meet my eyes and decide
to try and say something mean to me.

I am happier this year,
I am in classes that I
actually want to be in.
I get to take photography this year,
after getting done with basic art,
with a teacher that was kind of strange.

I'm glad that I'm in photography,
and found that I'm in love with it!
I hate the days that I'm not able
to be in the photography room,
and go into the back,
into the storage closet
that has been made into a darkroom

Developing the photos,
gives me a safe little high.
One that can't kill me,
or hurt me!
It's a safe high,
of building feelings of accompishmet.

I'm enjoying my softmore year,
I'm a softmore right now,
and next year I'll be a junior,
and I'll have been in the highschool
for 3 years, instead of 2.

I'm a softmore now,
and I'm proud of it!
I got through freshman year,
and survived it!
