I watch you from afar,
in complete dismay.
I notice something about you,
that you really aren't this way.
I think your changing what you like,
and who you want to be.
For others, and not yourself,
I just want you to see.
How perfect you truly were,
without changing a single thing.
You need to take down that guard,
and let that inner you sing.
You sit with no opinion,
even though I know you do.
I know this fact because,
I used to hide myself too.
I used to do what others wanted,
thought what others thought.
Just because I wanted to be liked,
popularity is what I sought.
Well, it didn't get me anywhere,
just to a state of not knowing me.
That person that is deep inside,
I still haven't been able to see.
So, I'm trying to help you,
before it's way too late.
To open up and be yourself,
as the world awaits.
Show us who you truly are,
I want to know the feelings in your heart.
I want you to look in the mirror with pride,
and no longer keep you and yourself apart.
