Conversation with My Grandfather

I felt you watching me today

Looking down from wherever you are

I wonder what it's like

That land beyond the stars

I know that you miss me

And all we used to do

Just know the feeling's mutual

Cause, Old Man, I miss you, too

I wish I could see what it's like

Just how you spend your days

Do you sit on a riverbank, fishing?

On the farm, loading up some hay?

I bet Granny's there with you

Telling you to wash your hands

Be sure to tell her I love her

And try to take her out and dance

Just so you know, I'm ok

Working hard and doing good

I try to do just like you taught me

The things I know I should

Some days are hard

Others not so bad

I just try to think

Of all the good times that we had

Just wanted to say happy birthday

In your land above the clouds

And until we meet again, Old Man

I love you and hope I make you proud
