Here I sit
Watching another lame
Football game
I wish this day would end
As fast as
This pen
Is running out of ink
I don’t want to go
Back where it barely
Snows
And sit with people
Who think they can
Be friends
With me
Not that I am egotistical
I am, but not for this
I want to stay
Where people don’t need
To say anything
To tell you how they feel
Where I’ve worked so hard
To be understood
And finally accepted
For who I am and want to be
Tonight I will sit with one
Who really hasn’t won
But maybe thinks she has
And talk about absolutely nothing
The lines are getting longer
You can tell just by looking
And the rhyming was lost
A while ago
But I know
I can control
Myself a little better
Get things back
Where they once
Lacked.
If you turn this sideways it’s a city where there is crime and love and food and culture and everything you think you want to live with. But then you realize you want to live how you grew up and your dreams never did include forgetting your childhood. And the city has a really big building on one end.
