It’s the celebration of summer
After the beating sun turned the leaves
To a darker green.
We walk down this path
Look down at the colors
The wild summer’s aftermath
More colorful than all others
Look up at the trees
The vibrant red and yellow
Falling in around me
Making my heart show
All of this beauty
Just for me to see
Wanting to share it
I bring you a leaf
A small fraction
It’s not enough to explain
What I meant by this action
Just another beauty among these leaves
The trees will soon be bare, cold
Lifeless, they will see their
Beauty covered up by the snow
Admire the old, rustic colors
Black and white will soon take over.
