What happened to my old friend Joe?

Haven't seen him of late 

Today found out what happened 

In his head, put in a plate

Joe was in a bad accident 

The brain damage was great 

To save his life, removed his brain 

Replaced it with a plate

Joe's a little slow these days

But that's to be forgiven

Received a card from him today

Wishin' me Happy Thanksgivin'

The problem Joe is having

If I may elucidate

Joe thinks too much which results in

Him having too much on his plate!
