An awful thing occurred
Perhaps you've heard
Martin Luther King Jr was shot to death
At the Lorraine Motel
In Memphis Tennessee
Which is now a part of history
A museum of civil rights
To commemorate a time
When hate spread across the land
When a man named King
Spread the word for hate to stop
Never made it to the promised land
But from what I understand
Made it to the mountaintop
RIP Martin Luther King Jr
