I have a friend with whom
My irritation is peaking
He starts every conversation
By saying 'Generally speaking'
I said to him 'Now listen
You have got me freaking
Stop saying 'Generally'
Start saying 'Privately speaking'
He said 'I don't understand
Why would I say 'Privately speaking?'
I'm not saying anything classified
Are you worried about it leaking?
I said 'In general, people like you don't get it
But, one day you'll have me to thank
A private must never question a general
You haven't yet reached that rank!'
