He’s seen the light

The author Cormac McCarthy has died. As the NY Times headline describes him, he was a novelist of a 'darker' America. Here is the obituary:

While he is generally considered a great writer, acclaim for his work is not universal. I have a theory as to why that's so.

 

Might it be possible that critics of his work are reading them in the daytime?

It stands to reason you need to read a novelist of a 'darker' America at night!
