Striking a deal
Headline on the front page of today's NY Times:
'White House and G.O.P. Strike Debt Limit Deal to Avert Default'

I totally understand both the Democrats and Republicans feeling the pressure to work out a deal concerning the debt. The pressure to come up with a solution that both parties could explain to their supporters as reasonable must've been tremendous.
But violence is not acceptable!
Was it really necessary to 'strike' a deal?
I expect our elected representatives in Washington not to act like a toddler who wants something Mom won't let him or her have!
No striking!
