America's semiconductor manufacturers face a problem. Not enough workers to meet the ever-increasing demand. What to do?
Did you take algebra? If you were like me, this thought may have crossed your mind:
Why do I need to learn this stuff? I'm never gonna use it for anything!
Here's a situation where you can.
Let x = # semiconductors
Let y = # workers
Let z = # hours
Say it takes 2 workers 2 hours to make 1 semiconductor, then
2y = x
2z = x
If there's only 1 worker available, what's the result?
y = 1/2 x
1 worker would be able to make 1/2 a semiconductor in 2 hours.
It would take 4 hours for 1 worker to make 1 semiconductor.
The manufacturers wouldn't want to double the time it takes to make 1 semiconductor.
And they're facing a shortage of workers..
What's the solution?
Manufacture quarterconductors!
