You tell me that you like me,

I feel the same for you.

You want to get into a relationship,

I'm unsure what to do.



I've been burned so bad before,

Had my heart pulled out of my chest,

Deep down I want to be with you,

But right now, my heart needs a rest.



I enjoy every moment we're together,

Can't imagine you not in my life.

You never know, we may grow to be best friends,

Perhaps even husband and wife.



That's a little too much to comprehend now,

I'm perfectly content just being your friend.

Maybe something special will happen between us,

But for now, I'm waiting for my heart to mend.
