The Man You Are

THE MAN YOU ARE...

She hurt you and wounded you

She cast you aside.

She beat you down, scarred you

And damaged your pride.

You put in every effort.

You never tried to hide.

It would be so easy

For bitterness to well inside.

Right now you cannot see them

And it really gets you down

Spread your wings and hold out hope

Soon you will not frown.

For you have a lot of strength

Your character I cannot flaw

You made a big decision

When you walked right out the door.

Now life goes on

It's true you know.

I care so much and I want

To let my feelings to show.

I wish I could take

Away all of your pain,

A brand new slate

Is all that would remain.

But history can't be changed

And yours is full of sorrow,

Set your hope high now baby

For a brighter tomorrow.

Open your heart

And you will see

I want to be with you

To be what she couldnt be.

I want to be loyal,

Faithful and true

And I can be like this;

I can with you.

So don't despair

Put aside your shame.

You can be anything

But for the stars you must aim.

On the past you mustn't ponder

Don't stop and ask why,

Just place your hand in my hand

And together we will fly.

I love you for the man you are

And the man that you will be.

Let's build a life together

And together we shall be free.

Be you ever faithful

Don't you lose your hope

Lean on me my baby

When you feel you can no longer cope.

We may not last forever

But you are a piece of my heart,

Good friends for always,

Destined from the start.

This was incredible. I'm sitting here crying from how much this poem reminds me of something I said to someone, some one who I later lost. It's almost kind of ironic, really. i was bored, and reading random poetry, when, instinctively, I erased the poem number in the URL of the one I was reading, and changed it to 1287, since there is no poem for 112287, my old loves birthdate. I found this poem, and it perfectly describes how I felt about him. Thanx 4 sharing. It was very well written, with lots of feeling. Keep up the good work.

Oh!! I like this one. It is so nice. I especially like this line: "And I can be like this; I can with you." I love the way it stops and then you put " I can with you" . Great Job
