This is their home, not an empty field.

Can you hear their cries,

Do you feel their fear,

As they blindly run

And call in the night?

They have nowhere to go

For you've stolen their land,

And taken their lives,

For your own selfish greed.

You've bulldozed away

All that they need,

The homes where they live

The places they feed.

You've destroyed the wild flowers,

The grass and the trees.

And you'll leave in their place

A concrete disease!!

Author's Notes/Comments:

Building on those fields robbed us of the deer, tawny owls, the majority of rabbits, whose numbers still remain very low, and all the skylarks, who would sing all day long. We now have an estate with known drug dealers, vandals, and various criminals....Fair exchange???
