MCINTOSH, THE CLAN

Far away across the ocean

in a green and misty land

there's a bunch of warrior people

called, Mcintosh, the Clan

Now old Angus was the laird of all

the land that you could see

from mountain top to mountain top

and from the valley's to the sea

He lived in a great stone castle

with turrets rising high

there were towers and old dungeons

and giant flags waved his coat of arms

and flew up in the sky

Now Angus had a daughter

who was beautiful to see

and she brought a handsome dowry

and many hides of land for free

and many rich lairds came to call

to try to win her hand

but she said, the man I marry

will be a gentle caring man

Now old Angus was beside himself

not knowing what to do

for she rejected all of them

all the men that Angus knew

but she fell in love with William

who was of the Campbell clan

and Angus hated Campbells

and he said

before he'd let him have her

the would kill the lot of them

William was a handsome warrior

tall and blond and fair

but he was the youngest son of Campbell

and still had no land to share

well old Angus thought about it

and the battles soon began

He brought out his battle axes

sharpened all his swords and spears

and got together all his men

Now the fighting raged for many weeks

with much bitterness between the clans

and many a fair and gallant laddy

laid dead upon the sand

and William came up missing

and so did the fair Eileen

and no one could remember

when either one was last seen

and then the fighting ceased to be

and the searching started then

both clans then came together

and sent out all their men

And next day they found their horses

in a valley far below

the large horse, black as the midnight coal

the small one, white as snow

a note pinned to the saddle there

made old Angus weep and wail

for it told an awful story

a sad and woeful tale

"You'd not let us be together

so we jumped from yonder cliff

and our love can never end now

even in the soothing arms of death

Then old Angus sad and grieving

was carried home that day

happiness for him was over

for fair Eileen had gone away

And Angus never smiled again

he just stared out o'er his land

and nothing made him happy

he was just and old and broken man

soon there was another laird

and they laid old Angus in the ground

the once proud and lusty warrior

of "Mcintosh, the Clan"
