A soldier made it home today
wrapped in the stars and bars
his jurney is over now
for he soars among the stars
The bugle played the last farewell
t'was so sad to hear it play
but a hero brave and loyal
has made it home today
He'went to fight for liberty
to fight the foreign foe
he went because he wanted to
he didn't have to go
Now he's come back a hero
and he's come back all alone
he left a young and timid boy
but a hero made it hme
He gave his life that we may live
there in that foreign land
and as his life blood ebbed away
he lay silent, in the sand
Now family and friends have gathered
to say their last goodbye
and his little son stood silent
a tear trickling from his eye
But he's going to be like Daddy
and be a soldier by and by
and he'll be brave, wipe off his face
for hero's never cry
