I only saw her just one time
tears streaming down her face
runnung down the street at night
and we didn't stop to check on her
it just was not our place
Oh, but now I'd give a million
if only I'd helped that little girl
the one with sad and lonely eyes
with soft blond hair that curled
So take a chance, my truest friends
if things don't look just right
to help a chlld that you have seen
whose eyes are filled with fright
for in the long run you may find
some child whose filled with strife
so go on, take heart in hand, do what you can
for you may save a life
HER STORY
Please Daddy
Please don't hurt me any more
said blue eyes filled with pain
please Daddy, just tell me what I've done
and I'll not do it ere again
Oh Daddy, please don't hit me aany more
my little arms are sore and bruised
and there's a big gash across my back
from the buckle on the belt you used
I'm only just a little girl
but my heart is filled with pain
and if you'd tell me just what I've done
I won't do it again
We used to be so happy
'fore Mommy got sick and went away
now Daddy cries so often
and drinks whiskey every day
A little girl with eyes of blue
and softly curling hair
in her ragged dress of yellow
stood shivering in the winter air
Out side upon the porch she stood
no shoes upon her feet
for in a fit of temper, he had locked her out
and he now lay in drunken sleep
Oh please, please Daddy, let me in
I am so cold and blue
please Daddy, please let me in,
Daddy, I love you
and I'd do anything for you
Oh Daddy, I'm hurting so
from when you threw me against the wall
and I think my arm is broken
from when you grabbed it on the hall
Daddy, I'm so hungry
can I have a bite to eat
I wouldn't ask for much, Daddy
and just any thing would be a treat
Oh Daddy, don't you love me any more
you used to say you did'
and Im still you're litle girl
I'm still your little kid
Why are you mad at me, Daddy
What did I do to you
I know I'm just in the way, Daddy
please tell me what to do
Please Daddy, don't hurt me any more
both my eyes are black and bruised
I'm still your little girl, but I feed so sad and used
Oh Daddy, please don't hurt me any more
Daddy Pleaseeese
Oh Daddy, what a pretty light
that's shining down on me
Then she saw her Mommy
with arms outstretched and wide
and with such a tender smile
and oh the comfort that she felt
for Mommy looked just like an angel
with her halo all in style
and then her Mommy put her arm's around her
and took her little daughter high above
where she never would be hurt again
and just know peace and love
They found her there next morning
neck broken, lying prone upon the floor
but she'd slipped away to heaven
where Daddy couldn't hurt her any more
