I've always had this awesome dream
to go to distant lands that bring
some strange magic, a distant touch
the thing I've wanted very much
See dusty roads, and desert Springs
wild animals and salt sea rings
to see these things before I die
to touch the soul of Africa
To see the spot where man was formed
on some distant morning, soft and warm
to see the place where Eve gave birth
most blessed spot on mother earth
Where Cain and Able lived and died
and Eve, their mother mournrd and cried
where Able brought his lambs in from the field
and Cain brought in his fruity yield
Africa, so hot and dry
I'll see you once before I die
to breath ancient air so fresh and clean
where Moses walked and Esther gleaned
Where Ramses ruled, aboriginie's live
where drought and dust storms, grief will give
and war come's often to this land
and the devil brews trouble with his hand
To rise up on some sunny day
with bags all packed to go away
ride distant road's in safari jeeps
make lasting memories there to keep
A water hole, a thorny bush
see a mother elephant, give her baby his first push
see wild baboons swing in the trees
and zebra's grazing where they please
To hear the drums of native born
see the place where wild hyennas bare their young
see the lion and her cubs at play
and see wild giraffe's as they graze each day
Where heavy rains come and flood the land
where brown toads lay hidden in the sand
where the musk ox bawls and the rhino's play
and crocodiles hunt in the rivers old and grey
We see the swift and small gazelle
leaping o'er some distant swell
to hear the lone wolf as he howls each night
as the moon comes up in brillient light
Where sandy deserts and jungle's wild
keep the land so warm and mild
oh, it's here I wish that could stay
and live my earthly life away
Where Serengetties ancient plane
brings forth lush grass behind the rain
where muddy water holes are filled
and wild animals drink water at their will
Dear Lord, if you have just one wish to give
please let me go and let me live
please lead me with your awesome hand
and take me to this pleasant land
For there I would be so content
until this mortal life is spent
to live within this sacred land
you first put into Adam's trembling hand
