Gailli AbdelRahm'an (1931- 24 August 1990) Arabic: جيلي عبد الرحمن‎ was a Sudanese writer and poet.





Early life

Gailli was born in Gez'irat Saay or Saay Island a small island in the Nile river northern Sudan,ethnically form Mahas Skoot .His Father migrated to Egyptin 1920s , .His father works in Egypt in the Royal Palaces as Guard or (Boaab) in Ansh'as Elramel (elsharqeia Province),Gailli came to Egypt with his mother when he two year old ,Gailli had three sisters and three brothers.Gailli joined Al-Azahar in Cairo ,where completed primary and Seconadry education.His life in Al-Azahar constituted Gailli ideas about the oppression and a social inequity ,when most of Al-Azahar students at taht time 1940s came from diffrent African countries and resided in unhealthy accommodation which led in many cases to students afflicted by tuberculosis and died because of that,Gailli had been arrested when he contributed a student demonstartion when he was a student in Al-Azahar.





Career

Gailli after finished his secondary education works as editor in One of Egyptian newspaper ,his works as editor corresponded with Gamal Abdel Nasser took the power in Egypt in 23 July 1952.Gailli 's first poem published in 1953 in El-massry news paper . Gailli works as editor in El-Gamohria Newspaper or The Republic , and also as editor in El-massa in the art paper in 1955.Gailli joined The Democracy Movement For National Liberation in Egypt in 1951 and continue his activities also with Sudanese Communist Party from that time until Gailli passed away in 1990.



Gailli migrated to former Soviet Union to complete his university study in 1964, actually Gailli got a scholarship from African and Asian writers Union ,so Gailli joined Gorky Institute for Art,Gailli awarded master degree in art in 1969.



Gailli after had been graduted works as editor in Moscow News Newspaperand then he works in Oriental Institute in Moscow ,this institute part from Soviet Academic Science.He awarded PhD in Comparative Art Theory from oriental Institute ,where he work for short time as a lecturer.He published alot of his poetry when he had been in Moscow and also in he had been in Russia he had a poetry published in different languages like English ,Russian,french.In1977 joined Aden University,where he worked as a lecturer in Art and inaesthetics,and spent seven years ,where he awarded a professorate.Then Gailli moved to work in Algeria in 1983 to work in The language and Art Institute at Algeria University, and he had been there until he afflicted byKideny Failure in February 1989,then he moved to Egypt seeking for remedy ,where he passed way inAugust 1990 after a surgery operation.He had been married a Soviet women called Malaamat Magasood fanna and had two daughters, Ranna and Reem.





Works

Gsa'aid meen El-sudan,Arabic قصائد من السودان or Poems from Sudan Cairo,Egypt 1956.(poetry collection)

Al-jaoo'ad we'l el-s'ef el-maksoor,Arabic الجواد والسيف المكسور or Cavalry and Broken Sword, (poetry collection),1968 and republished in 1985.

Also Gailli published a book in political by the title Arabic المعونات الاجنبية و اثرها على استقلال السودان or The foreign Aid and it's Influence On Sudan Independance,Gailli wrote this book in collabrated with his friend the poet Taj elsir el-Hussan 1958,this book introduced by the Sudanese comunist leader Abed elkhaliq Mahjoub.

Aganai El-zahefeen by Arabic اغاني الزاحفين or the The Songs of Marchers ,poetry collection in collaborated with Najeeb Saroor,Mojahid Abdelmon'em and Kam'al Am'ar.

Gailli translted from Russian toArabic the many Russian poets like Rasoul Gazamotov,Gankez Atanmov,ayann Kanybaq and others.

Boab'at El-modan El-Safr'a ,Arabic بوابات المدن الصفراء or The Gates of Yellow Cities,(poetry collection published after Gailli passed away in Egypt by the The Egyptian General Corporation for Book .

Altayer El-magboon,Arabic الطير المغبون ,not published yet.

Al-hariq w'a Ahl'am Al-balabal,Arabic الحريق واحلام البلابل ,also not published yet.
