A Good Parasite Doesn't Hurt the Host

I complacently ate

The placenta on my plate

Sacrificed freedom for a cord

Until she won the war

Defense untouched

Protected so much

By the one that I fight

Flight; I am birthed

Kicking and screaming

From nine months of scheming

Nourished and flourished

Then ejection encouraged

I ate and I fed

Til my body and head

Swelled too large

And directed my outward charge

This was the doom

Of my first bedroom

All that I left behind

A couple of pounds and a relieved mind
