You can't control circumstances
He tried so hard
While she
Lovingly
Beautifully
Waited.
Come out and play,
Her friends did say,
She replies, "nay"
"I've a better fish today"
A promise of fish can't fill an empty pond
He'd walk twelve thousand miles
Sad thing is it takes a while
And when chains of duty stay his feet
The wait is longer, and more dire
Riding the wind she comes back for him
With faith he will come through
And when he doesn't (surprise surprise)
She's actually wasted her time on him
Noble is she for biding her time
Loving him through frustration's tears

He's just wet behind the ears
Naively he still believes

Though fate and method are not with him

More akin to the bumbling sidekick
