The Beast Within

A primal need surges through me
my veins howl with a lust I cannot deny.
Instantly, my touch becomes electrically frantic
and my brain takes its leave.
my body senses the release of control
and it descends to a state of nature.
my hands and eyes roam your body
studying. calculating.
I smell and taste
the millions of years of sex radiating off you.
We make eye contact and I do not see
a man but a feral beast glaring back
as if you want to devour me and
tear me apart. I want you to.
Evolution may have elevated us
from the primordial ooze, and may have
given us the gift of knowledge
but there's no changing this. You and I
are now one with every sexual being
of every species and time, about to taste
life and death in one
sweaty musky tangle

but we step back.
neither of us take the first bite.

The tree of the knowledge of good and evil
remains unblemished
for today.
