[after 2 Corinthians 12:7]
Lord Jesus, I thank you for, even, adversity:
it reminds me of my innate perversity
that is cleansed by your utmost clemency;
it reminds me of the temptation to pride---
in which, therein, my soul must not abide.
in which too many, unrepentant, have died;
it reminds me of my own ignorance,
and that, only in Faith, my finds real significance;
it reminds me of my own helplessness
which You have continued to generously bless
with Your profuse and gracious abundancy;
it reminds me that You entered into existential strife,
you entered, Son of God, Son of David, Abraham and Seth,
to die, and by dying, open the closure of my death,
that I might live eternally through Your resurrected Life.
Starward
