[after Acts 9, passim]

Oh, I do not deny that I despised

that prejudiced hater (you know him) Saul

of Tarsus.  And I did not want to go

near him who persecuted us who call

Jesus our Lord and Savior.  But the Lord,

Himself, told me that Paul should be baptized;

yes, baptized in the Faith---and by my hands.

Nor would I have refused what Christ commands,

even someone like Saul, so much abhored

among us.  But, truly, I also know

that we who claim to keep the Faith, and live

according to Christ's teachings must forgive.

From this duty, none can demure or stall;

we must forgive even the likes of Paul.
