Although given a soul by Christ's breath,

I stooped to steep my self in sin's perfidy;

and thus owed, for my tainted life, my death;

but nerciful Christ who has loved me

died---in my place to satisfy the penalty---

on a Roman cross on the ridge called Calvary;

and, through that spiritual connection,

He has given me eternal life in His Resurrection.
